ON THE HUMAN FEELING (Chap.2) “Handle me with care”
On the Human feeling (Chapter 2)
THEATRE INSTALLATION FOR VIDEO AND WORDS
A single book for different chapters
“Handle me with care”
“Handle me with care” the search path Officina Orsi began starting from the theme of memory (Lugano Souvenir. Memory of Lugano) and that is bringing the company to make a trip divided into chapters in various cities, on the human feeling, on the various facets of the soul.
“Our research aims to investigate the employment of new forms to the practice of participatory theatre and questions itself on a participatory form of expression that can include spectators and communities. Theatre as a collective laboratory, microcosm of our society, a place of public dialogue with itself. ”
The structure and form of “Handle me with care” follows an installation-like mode of “staging” for video and words and the content focuses, once again, the “choir”, the crowd, which brings together all in an apparent unique reflection, where everyone can include his or her own voice and silence.
The main theme of the “story” entrusted to people that artists have met and interviewed, in this second chapter, is the absence. Place and time when the thought or action, is firmly dedicated to bring to life the absence, making it present in the continuous reference to someone or something. An absence that keeps company. An empty that becomes full of expectation.
Around the absence, the forgotten becomes visible. When the absence is unbridgeable then it is loss of what is no longer. The absence knows that it cannot translate itself into fulfilment, its implementation would be impossible, because the absence has the absolute stretch of desire – missing the driving force, which turns into passive waiting. It is so that the the absence becomes opposed to the need, which can be satisfied.
In “Handle me with care” the self-listening time passes through the figures, the “characters” which apparently do not belong to us, that we do not know, but which become the research archetypes of each viewer.
Director’s Notes
In the absence, the echo of the subject becomes presence – says Rubidori Manshaft. Manipulating the absence, making this time last, delays as much as possible the moment when the others might, from the absence, be plunged abruptly into death. The staging of an absence helps us to separate the time in which the absence will become emptiness.
The exercise, so that the core of the absence reappears, or appears, is the expectation in which my absence becomes presence, it has a circular movement is a back and forth. A distorted presence that appears and disappears becoming active practice in the convening of absence.
The mind creates the ritual which will become complicity, within itself, between the thought of absence and its present absence. Between memory and desire, between discovery and re-enactment.
